A suspect in the Highland Park 4th of July Parade mass murder was taken into custody on Monday.

Highland Park Police Chief Lou Jogment says Robert Crimo Jr. was found driving on Monday afternoon.

“We attempted to initiate a traffic stop on that subject. That subject did flee. A brief pursuit went on. Ultimately, they were able to get the subject stopped at Wesley and 41 and Lake Forrest. The subject was taken into custody without incident. The person of interest is now being taken to the Higland Park Police Department where we will begin the next phase of the investigation and speak with this person.”

Crimo Jr. lived in Highland Park. Police say the shooter was perched on a roof top overlooking the parade route.
