Corey Paul Martinez, 51, of East Moline, died at 6 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2022, in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born December 12, 1970, in Monmouth.  He was the son of Rueben Martinez, Sandra Rae (Warrington) Martinez Wenstrom, and Larry Wenstrom.

He is survived by his parents, Sandra and Larry Wenstrom; sister, April Martinez; half-sisters, Regina Wenstrom and Maria Elena Martinez; adopted brother, Winston Wenstrom; and three nieces, one nephew, and several cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father.

Corey received certification in powder coating and worked in that field for a time.  Later, he became a certified fork lift operator and was currently working at the Sherwin-Williams warehouse in East Moline.

Being a lover of music, Corey enjoyed listening to music and was a talented guitar player.  He also enjoyed fishing and caring for his pets.  In addition to his human family, he leaves behind two dogs, Abby and Diamond and two cats, Zeppelin and Shae.

Corey’s wishes were to be cremated.  No visitation or service is planned.  A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.  Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Knox County Humane Society.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg is honored to serve the family.  Online condolence may be made on the funeral home’s website at www.h-p-w.com.
