Farm Bill 2023 Discussion a Key Priority for Ag Industry

Share

Enacted into law in December of 2018, the current Farm Bill is set to expire in 2023, which local farmer and Illinois Corn Growers Association Industrial Committee Chair, Rob Elliott calls a key priority:

“As we look at this next Farm Bill coming along, is where that whole thing lands, for the 2023 Farm Bill. Certainly, robust crop insurance, as well as market development funds for grains council and alike, those are all key priorities. I think probably holding conservation practices and the funding for that in place. A lot of things with the Farm Bill that will continue to evolve, but certainly discussion is going on around that one also.”

The three original goals of the farm bill passed back in the 1930s are to keep food prices fair for farmers and consumers, ensure an adequate food supply, and protect and sustain the country’s vital natural resources.
