Free Local Wellness Program Will Offer Strength Training, Nutrition, Mobility, and Preventative Care

With the goal to give all local residents the tools they need to improve their overall health without having a large time commitment or needing a health facility to go to, the Warren County Health Department is hosting a free four-week Wellness Program at Meks on Main in Monmouth. Community Health Coordinator Kira Schumm shares who will be involved:

“We have Professor Schumm from Monmouth College. He will be demonstrating an at home workout. Based on your experience level with physical activity, you can make it more challenging, or you can make it for beginners. He will also spend some time talking nutrition. We have a Physical Therapist coming from Advanced Rehab and Sports Medicine. He is going to be talking about injury prevention, some stretching to address some injuries that you might have, and mobility. Then we will have someone from OSF come and talk about preventative care; things that we need to do so that long-term we can move and enjoy life and we don’t run into all these chronic diseases that cause us to spend most of our time at doctor’s appointments and being sedentary.”

The free Wellness program will begin on Monday, July 25th at Meks on Main, followed by the next three consecutive Mondays. Each weekly program will be held from 6 to 7 pm. More details can be found on the Warren County IL Health Department Facebook page or by calling 309-734-1314, extension 3.
