Isaias Godina Named Monmouth Little Lions Baseball League Vernon Schaub Award Winner

The Monmouth Little Lion’s Baseball season came to an end on Thursday night at Harmon Park in Monmouth with the annual Award Ceremony Picnic. A fantastic turnout was treated to a hot dog, chips and a drink. Over 120 hot dogs were handed out, a high for the last several seasons.

Following the meal, the regular season and tournament champs were recognized. The same team in both the minor and major league won both regular season and tournament trophies. Whitman Law Office was the Minor League champion and Leary’s Construction was the Major League champ.

The final award of the night was The Vernon Schaub Sportsmanship Award. Schaub was a former neighbor of Harmon Park that started the award around 25 years ago. Coaches nominate a 12-year old player from each team that exhibited great sportsmanship and leadership throughout the season. The winner this year is Isaias Godina. It was a great week for Isaias, who along with the award, scored the tournament winning run for Leary’s Construction on Tuesday night. Isaias was happy to get the award and knows the importance of sportsmanship and what that means.
