Knox County Health Department and Health Center to Participate in Rep. Swanson’s Veterans’/Seniors’ Fair Next Week

The Knox County Health Department and Knox Community Health Center are excited to announce that they are participating in Representative Dan Swanson’s Veterans’/Seniors’ Resource Fair on August 4th from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1556 E. Fremont St., Galesburg. 

Health Department staff will be offering the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 primary vaccines and booster vaccines at the resource fair as well as highlighting the other important services they offer to the residents of Knox County.

  • The Pfizer COVID-19 primary vaccine is authorized for infants 6 months of age and up. Adolescents 5 years and older are recommended to get a first booster shot at least five months after completing the primary vaccine series. The Moderna COVID-19 primary vaccine is authorized for anyone 6 months of age and older. Adults 18 years and older are recommended to get a first booster shot at least five months after completing the primary vaccine series.
  • The COVID-19 Pfizer and Moderna Second Booster vaccines are recommended for individuals aged 50 and older at least 4 months after the initial booster vaccine. A second booster shot of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for Children and teens ages 12-17 years who are moderately or severely immunocompromised at least 4 months after the initial booster vaccine.

Staff from the Knox Community Health Center will present with FREE at home self-test COVID-19 Kits & N95 Masks. Limit two test kits per household and a limit of three N95 masks per person. They will also be highlighting the behavioral health, dental and medical services they offer.

Representation Swanson states, that “Although this event is listed as a Veteran & Senior Fair, everyone is invited. I enjoy watching people walk out with bags full of information and to see the exhibitors’ answering questions for attendees about all the resources and services provided throughout our community.”
