In front of a great crowd at Harmon Park on Tuesday night, the Monmouth Little Lions Baseball League wrapped up its season as the top seeds in the postseason league tournament won their games in both the Minor and Major Leagues. In the Minor League tournament, Whitman Law Office defeated Midwest Bank 10-0 to finish the season (12-2). Dawson Ricco and Linley Chum each had a pair of hits for Whitman. Ricco smashed a double and Chum had a 2-rbi triple among their two hits. Following the game, Whitman assistant coach Reid Kelso was proud of his ball club.
In the Major League tournament, Leary’s Construction defeated Stanton Insurance 11-10 in a walk-off thriller. Top-seeded Leary’s trailed the game 10-9 heading into the bottom of the final inning. They would tie the game up and had the winning run on 3rd with one out. A wild pitch sent the runner from third home and gave Leary’s the win and a record of (14-1) overall. Isaias Godina scored the winning run with Ryder Caldwell and Ryan Cokel each having a great day at the plate, as well.
