23rd Annual Maple City Street Machines Cruise Night Draws in Thousands

The 23rd Annual Maple City Street Machines Cruise Night took over the Monmouth City Streets Friday, August 5th. Club President Clifford Adams says road closures and cars will begin showing up very early in the morning for the day long cruise:

“Starting usually about six o’clock in the morning, the Monmouth Police Department will be shutting down the downtown area. People will start showing up actually at six o’clock or even before. The car cruise starts at Main Street and 4th Avenue, that is where we first start parking the cars. Grand central registration table is on the Square and that is where Eternity Road will be and DJ Keith Patterson and Rick Mays. Then we go on North Main Street all the way to Pizza Hut.”

Over 3,500 cars are expected to be on display along with 40,000 plus spectators. Committee of Five Member Dustin McKee encourages all to attend, especially the youth:

“I encourage bringing kids. None of this matters without getting the next generation involved. That is how I started. I started by coming up here and seeing cool cars, cool trucks, stuff that makes the kids want to get into it when they get older and hopefully nurture that passion so that this hobby doesn’t die.”

Bicycles, skateboards, pets, golf carts, scooters, and alcohol are not allowed during Friday’s car show.
