Brookfield Zoo Mourning Loss of 42-Year-Old Gorilla

The Brookfield Zoo is mourning the passing of longtime resident JoJo the gorilla. The silverback western lowland gorilla went into cardiac arrest during an emergency veterinary procedure, according to the Chicago Zoological Society. The 42-year-old JoJo lived at the zoo for ten years and sired three offspring. According to the zoo, the median life expectancy for male gorillas in managed care is 32 years.
