The Western Illinois University School of Agriculture, and the University Union Board, will host the fourth annual Food. Family. Farming. Football BBQ Competition, beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, and held during tailgating in Q-Lot, to celebrate WIU Family Day, ahead of the WIU football team’s first home game of the season.

The event is highlighted by a barbecue ribs and brisket competition, where guests can buy tickets to taste the entries. Food will be served while supplies last. There will also be live music by the Devin Clemons Band, a bags tournament and activities for the whole family. The event will wrap-up at 2:30 p.m., after awards are presented.

Tasting tickets are $4 each, two for $6, or four for $10. Tickets, and packages that include event t-shirts, tickets for the tasting, and to the football game, can be found at wiu.edu/cbt/agriculture/football. This year’s t-shirts will be gold to match with the theme for that weekend’s game.

This year’s event is sponsored by Smithfield, Compeer Financial, the Tri County Cattlemen’s Association, Sodexo, McDonough County Farm Bureau and Citizens Bank, a division of Morton Community Bank.
