Matt Repp Memorial Golf Outing STILL Giving Back to the Community After Nine Years

Share

The Matt Repp Memorial Golf Outing takes place on Saturday, August 13th at the Monmouth Country Club. It’s the 9th year of the summer event. All proceeds from the tournament go to the Matt Repp Memorial Scholarship Fund that benefits area high school students. Some of the projects the fund has supported include upgrading the United Junior High School library into a media center for students and teachers. The Fund has also donated a new basketball scoreboard at United Junior High. The Matt Repp Memorial Scholarship Fund has also awarded college scholarships to area high school seniors. The United Jr. High School building is the site of the former Yorkwood Jr. and Sr. High Schools, where Matt was a 2-sport athlete and student. Matt, the son of Pat and Kris and the brother of Adam, passed away in October of 2013 at the age of 28. Matt’s father, Pat, says the tournament and all the good that the proceeds do, is a great way to honor Matt.

It’s a new format for Memorial Tournament this year. Due to the increasing amount of 4-person teams in the scramble format, the tournament will have a shotgun start with two segments. The first segment will tee off at 8am, followed by the second segment at 2:00. There will be food available, the bar will be open at the Monmouth Country Club, silent raffles for baskets of goodies and t-shirts for purchase throughout the day. Prizes will be handed out at 8:00 on Saturday night. For more information, go to the outing’s Facebook page at “Matt Repp Memorial Golf Outing”.
