William “Bill” E. Howard, 84 of Lake Bracken, Galesburg, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Lake Bracken.

  He was born June 12, 1938 in Abingdon, the son of Orph and Edna M. (Brodrick) Howard.  He married the love of his life, Susan L. Onion on June 20, 1958 at the Abingdon United Methodist Church.

  Bill is survived by his wife, Susie; one daughter, Lori (Nelson) Barnes of Bartlett, Illinois; one son, Mike (Terri) Howard of Galesburg; five grandchildren, Jaque (Matt) Gohlinghorst, Michael Barnes, Meghan Barnes, Nicholas Barnes and Alexis Barnes; and two great-grandsons, Clay and Jackson Gohlinghorst.

  He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruby Stigner.

  He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1956 and from Western Illinois University in 1960.  He was an accountant at the former Outboard Marine Corporation in Galesburg for 25 years and later worked at various other companies.  He had lived in the Abingdon, Brimfield and Lake Bracken areas most of his life.  He was a member of the Abingdon United Methodist Church.  Bill enjoyed golfing and fishing and making memories with family and friends at Lake Bracken.

  Cremation will be accorded.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
