Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 23rd, 2022:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior boys cross country runner, Liam Baldwin. Liam ended his high school cross country career by placing 34th at the Macomb class 1A regional meet at Spring Lake. His time of 20:10 was a season, and career, best run for Liam in a 3-mile race. He was 31st at the Monmouth-Roseville Titan Invite earlier this season.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Abel Wilson. Abel battled an injury all season and because of that, had to play a plethora of different positions. He saved his best game of the season for last. In a win over Abingdon-Avon, Abel caught four passes for 79 yards. He took two of those four catches into the endzone.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is sophomore volleyball player, Harlee Hainds. Harlee has been a force at the net all season long. Last week was no exception, as she had eight kills in a win over Galva and six more in a 3-set loss to Knoxville. Harlee also hustled her way to 21 digs between the two matches, as well.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior girls cross country runner, Briana Admire. Briana qualified for the 4th straight sectional meet in her high school career by placing 32nd in the Peoria Notre Dame regional meet at Donovan Park. She ran the 3-mile course in 22:58. Earlier this season she just missed making the Western Big Six All-Conference team by one place, finishing 21st.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior football player, Drew Sheckler. Drew scored the lone touchdown for the Tornadoes in a loss to United in the regular season finale. He had a solid season on both sides of the ball for A-Town. Drew led the team in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns for the year, as well as being the 3rd leading tackler on defense.
