Edna Lou Watson, age 79, of Greencastle, Indiana, formerly of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022 surrounded by her family. Born March 25, 1943 in Lincoln, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph Lee and Virginia Belle (Bagwell) Griffis.

Lou had worked in the lunch room at TZ Intermediate School. She had previously worked at Garfield Elementary and babysat at the YMCA, both in Monmouth and CRG Enterprises.

She was a member of New Hope Fellowship Church. Lou loved to read her Bible and share the word of the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Watson; her parents; and a brother, Bobby Griffis.

Lou loved being with and taking care of her family, she is survived by her sons Donnie (Jolene) Watson of Greencastle, IN and Dan (Leann) Watson of Monmouth, IL; sister Jennie (Jerry) King of Indianapolis, IN; and brother Paul (Ann) of Ohio; one aunt Pat (Tom) Clark of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren Brandon (Jess) Watson, Kyle (Nicole) Watson, Amanda (Joe) Downing, Brittany Watson and Amy Watson; great grandchildren, Brylynn Watson, Gavin Watson, Jaxon Watson, Emma Watson, Ryleigh Downing, and Ezekiel “Zeke” Downing.

Locally, a graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, IL. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Lou to New Hope Fellowship Church. Lou’s greatest hope was that everyone knew Jesus.
