F. Jean “Jeanie” Richards, 78 of Abingdon, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2022 at her home with her family at her bedside.

  She was born August 18, 1944 in Pekin, the daughter of Fred and Wilma (Gray) Beever.  She married Tim Richards on August 12, 2006 at the Abingdon American Legion. 

  Jeanie is survived by her husband, Tim; her children, Terry (Ann) McLeese of Paris, Tennessee and Kim (Robert) Morris of Hermon; 6 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Janet (Doris Peck) Swank of Knoxville.

  She was preceded in death by her parents.

  Jeanie graduated from Galesburg High School.  She worked at the Knox County Tax Assessor’s Office in Galesburg for 26 years, retiring in 2006.  She has lived in Abingdon the past 50 years.  She was of the Christian faith.  Her hobbies included camping and fishing at the Cabin Fever Camp Grounds near Victoria, giving Tim a hard time, and spending time with friends.  She also enjoyed the company of her beloved dog, Shadow.

  Cremation will be accorded.  To celebrate her life, her family will receive relatives and friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2022 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel, 206 N. Washington St. in Abingdon, followed by a Eulogy given by her daughter-in-law, Ann McLeese, at 7 p.m.
