WHAT: Fatal Traffic Crash Involving Two Vehicles
WHERE: US Route 34 westbound, near Seminary Street, Knox County
WHEN: November 3, 2022 at 7:10 p.m.
VEHICLES: Unit 1 – Silver 2010 Hyundai Elantra
Unit 2 – Blue 2017 Jeep Renegade
DRIVERS: Unit 1 – Roly V. Molenga, a 22-year-old female from Galesburg, IL – Deceased
Unit 2 – Kyle J. Reffett, a 39-year-old male from Avon, IL – Airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries.
PASSENGERS: Unit 1 – Donnell Mathews, a 25-year-old male from Galesburg, IL – Airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries.
Unit 2 – Travis D. Clayton, a 30-year-old male of Abingdon, IL – Airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries.
Unit 2 – A 10-year-old female from Avon, IL – Airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries.
Unit 2 – A 7-year-old male of Avon, IL – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
PRELIMINARY: Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on US Route 34, near Seminary Street in Knox County. Unit 2 was traveling westbound on US Route 34 in the same area. Unit 1 left the roadway, traveled through the center median and struck Unit 2 head-on. A total of six occupants were transported to hospitals. The driver of Unit 1 later succumbed to her injuries. No further information is available at this time.
