Gail Lynn Soper, 65, of Galesburg, died at 1:44 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2022, at home surrounded by family.

She was born April 16, 1957, in Galesburg, the daughter of Gene and Wandalee J. (Harrington) Johnson.  She married Mark Miner and later Monte Soper.

She is survived by sons, Corey Miner, Brent (Adam Bohn) Miner, and Nathan (Dayna) Soper, all of Galesburg and Jeremy (Danielle) Soper in Texas; daughters, Karissa (Philip Scott) Soper of Galesburg and Mandi (Matt Riggen) Miner and Jessica Jamerson, both of Peoria; 18 grandchildren; brothers, Mike (Margie) Johnson of Galesburg and Rod (Linda) Johnson of Galva; sisters, Colleen (Joe) Tribley, Jackie Cadwell, and Sherry (Larry) Ashby, all of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Mark and Monte; a brother, Jim Johnson; a niece, Heather Johnson; and a dear friend, Norma Deacon.

Gail worked for 20 years as a teacher’s aide for Galesburg District 205.  She retired in May 2015.  She was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Gail enjoyed bowling when she was younger.  She also enjoyed sewing, ceramics, and puzzles.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg.  Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2022, at the chapel.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Online condolences may be made on the funeral home’s website at www.h-p-w.com.
