Holly Gayle LaPorte, 64, of Galesburg, died at 5:35 a.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at her home.

She was born February 19, 1958 in Galesburg, the daughter of Earl Clyde and Lois Pauline (Bonesteel) Miller. Holly graduated from Galesburg High School in 1976. She worked as a service coordinator for Central Illinois Center for Independent Living for about three years. Holly later worked as a bartender for many years at several different bars. She married Ivan F. LaPorte, Jr. on July 29, 2005 in Galesburg.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 17 years, Ivan LaPorte, Jr. of Galesburg; two daughters, Brooklyn (Zeth Stanley) DeLaCruz of Galesburg and Cheyenne Taylor of Galesburg; two step-daughters, Wendy (Phil) McRell of Plano, Texas and Miranda (Jeremy) Nesseler of Andalusia, Illinois; six grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. Holly is also survived by her beloved cats, Slick and Romeo. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Corey Miller; one brother, Greg Miller; and one sister, Shelley Muselman.

Holly enjoyed watching her grandkids play sports and do tumbling. She loved spending time with her friends at the Silver Front. Holly liked to play slot machines, do sudoku, and be on her tablet. She was a member of the Elks Lodge.

Cremation will be accorded. A memorial visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Harley’s Pub to celebrate her 65th birthday. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
