Monmouth-Roseville Boys Basketball Preparing for Tough Stretch of Games

Share

Story by Prairie Communications intern Kadin Rogers

The Monmouth-Roseville varsity boys basketball team is off to a 5-4 start to begin their winter season. Recently, the Titans played two, close, home games against non-conference opponents. On Friday, Monmouth-Roseville avenged last season’s regional loss to Knoxville by beating the Blue Bullets 46-44, and on Tuesday the team hosted the West Hancock Titans, losing 48-47 on last second free throws.
The competition for the Titans continues to stiffen in the upcoming games. Tonight, they welcome state-ranked Columbia to the Shoebox at Monmouth-Roseville High School and then take part in the Great Western Shootout against Ridgewood on Saturday morning at Abingdon-Avon High School. The Titans end a busy stretch by travelling to Quincy Notre Dame on Tuesday the 20th. QND received votes in the latest AP Poll. Head Coach Jake Sottos says this level of competition only strengthens his team, and gets them ready for important contests down the road.
