Judith A. Mitchell, age 81, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Monmouth, passed away at 11:22 PM on Monday, January 23, 2023 at Renaissance Care Center in Canton, Illinois. She was born November 10, 1941 in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Charles Raymond and Marie Louise (Shawgo) Floyd. Judith was raised and educated in Monmouth and later in Chicago. She was previously married to Larry Mitchell, Sr. 

For a time, Judith worked at Monmouth Pottery and the City of Monmouth. Later, she worked for many years at Warren Achievement Center in Monmouth from which she retired. She loved to garden and read. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren. 

Judith is survived by two daughters, Sherri (Bill) Stokes of Los Angeles, CA and Debbie Skinner of Henry, IL, five sons, Larry (Donna) Mitchell of Monmouth, IL, Jerry Mitchell of Peoria, IL, Kerry Mitchell of Clermont, FL, Terry Mitchell of Monmouth, IL, and Chuck McCabe of Burlington, IA. Also surviving our many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jerry Floyd.

As were Judith’s wishes, cremation is being accorded. A private inurnment will be held at Monmouth Cemetery. A memorial is being established for Western Illinois Animal Rescue.
