Martha J. Anderson, 85, of Galesburg, died at 7:40 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023, at home surrounded by family.

She was born April 30, 1937, in Galesburg, the daughter of Theodore L. and Pearl I. (Terpening) Hoffman.  She married Jerry L. Anderson on January 29, 1956, in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on September 19, 2019, after over 63 years of marriage.

She is survived by a son, Jeff Anderson of Galesburg; five grandchildren, Rick Bond of Knoxville, Andrew (Katie) Bond of Galesburg, Michael (Renee) Bond of Galesburg, Kate Anderson of Los Angeles, and David (Glenda) Anderson of Los Angeles; five great grandchildren, Benjamyn, Madeline, Clark, Jace, and Alaina; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer S. Bond on March 3, 2011; her parents; and her brothers and sisters.

Martha was an excellent cook.  She enjoyed spending her time with her family.  She worked as the bookkeeper for the family rental business.  She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1955 and lived here her entire life.  In younger years, Martha enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Cremation will be accorded.  Private family graveside service will be in East Linwood Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Galesburg Firefighters Association.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family.  Online condolences may be made on the funeral home’s website at www.h-p-w.com.
