Monmouth native scored 46 points in two games last week

MONMOUTH, ILL. (01/30/2023) Monmouth College men’s basketball sophomore Declan Flynn (Monmouth, Illinois) was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Monday after strong performances against Lake Forest and Knox last week. This is the second time in the last three weeks the Scots have picked up the award as Jordan Metcalf (Aledo, Illinois) won for the second time this season on Jan. 17.

Flynn averaged 23.0 ppg on the week while making 69% of his shots and 67% of his 3-pointers as the Scots went 2-0 and stayed in second place in the MWC. Flynn set a new career high with 21 points at Lake Forest on Wednesday, then topped that with 25 points Saturday in a win at rival Knox. Flynn was 10-for-15 from the field and 5-for-7 from 3-point range at Knox and his run at the ned of the half gave the Scots the lead for good. Flynn finished the week 8-for-12 from deep, 18-for-26 from the field and 2-for-2 at the line while adding five rebounds.

The Scots host first-place Illinois College at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and host Grinnell College at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
