The Monmouth-Roseville Titan girls basketball team finished up the first half of the season at (14-2), which included a (3-1) mark in the Cliff Warkins Memorial Holiday Shootout. The only loss of last week was a 3-point setback to (15-3) Lena-Winslow.

As the calendar turns to 2023, Titan head coach Scott Weber turns his attention to getting his team ready to compete for a Three Rivers Conference West Divison title and preparing for what is hopefully a long postseason run. Monmouth-Roseville is (4-0) in West Divison play, trailing (5-0) Sherrard in the standings. The Titans and Sherrard will meet for the first of two meetings on January 12th at the Shoebox at Monmouth-Roseville High School. With the other 5 teams in the division having at least two losses so far, it looks to be a 2-team race for the crown. Weber knows that both his club and Sherrard have a target on their back as the second half of the season commences and he’s not taking any team for granted, including the next two games on their schedule.

First up is Orion on Thursday night on the road, followed by a trip to Riverdale on Monday. The last time Monmouth-Roseville and Orion met was at the ROWVA/Ridgewood Thanksgiving Tournament. The Titans beat the Chargers 70-31 in a game that ended with some heated exchanges between coaches and included several verbal and physical exchanges between players. Weber says his team has to keep focused on the task at hand and not what’s going on after the whistle.

Tip-off of the varsity game is scheduled for 7:00 tomorrow night in Orion. With a front-loaded home schedule, Monmouth-Roseville now has just one game at the friendly confines of the Shoebox scheduled before February 4th. That home game is the important West Division match up against Sherrard on January 12th.
