Oscar Lee McGinity Jr, age 79, of Carman, Illinois, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born August 29, 1943 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Oscar Lee and Virginia Bowman McGinity Sr.  On June 17, 1961, he married Sandra Polson in Burlington.  She survives.

Also surviving are four children: Kimberly (Brad) Hall of Burlington, IA, Shelley (Bill) Brissey of Middletown, IA, Brian (Danyelle) McGinity of Land O Lakes, FL, and Lori (Jay) Chenoweth of Wapello, IA, ten grandchildren: Natalie Lambert, Aaron Hall, Marissa Hall, Megan Hope, Jenna Brissey, Brandon Chenoweth, Bailey Chenoweth, Austin Baughman, Callie Baughman, and Hunter Baughman, seven great grandchildren: Lane and Macie Lambert, Reese Hall, Carson, Callie and Corbin Hope, and Kameron Redd, one sister: Debra (Kevin) Ryner of Burlington, IA, and three brothers: Kenneth (Darla) McGinity of Ozark, AL, Michael McGinity and Jim McGinity, both of Burlington, IA.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Thomas McGinity.

Mr. McGinity lived in the Burlington area most of his life, moving to Carman in 1995.  He was Assistant Manager of Fullerton Lumber Company in West Burlington, IA, prior to his retirement.  Earlier, he was employed at Standard Of Beaverdale and Murray Iron Works Foundry.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and woodworking. 

As per his wishes, no services are planned at this time.  A Celebration Of Life will be planned at a later date. Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst.  Please visit Oscar’s obituary at banksandbeals.com to sign the guest book and leave a condolence.
