Michael Lee “Mike” Duncan, age 72, of Media, Illinois passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 at his home.  He was born June 20, 1950 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Robert and Doris Hicks Duncan.  On November 9, 1969, he married Dianna Lynn Avery in Stronghurst.  She preceded him in death on October 12, 2021.

Mike was a veteran of the United States Navy.  He was employed as a welder for J.I. Case Company in Burlington for 30 years.  Following his retirement, he drove a bus for Warren County Head Start Program for several years.  He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union.  He enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas.  His grandchildren were the most important part of his life, and he loved them dearly.

Survivors include two children: Amy (Eric) Fleming, and Brian (Noel) Duncan, six grandchildren: Chelsey Stuart, Skylar (Colton) Cokel, Michael (Taylor) Duncan, Kady Fleming, Dallas Cramer, and Taylor Phelps, seven grandchildren: Brody, Jadyn, Breckin, Hudson, Lakyn, Ellie, and Jersey, one sister: Sherry Warrington, his brothers and sisters in law: Neal and Patty Avery, and Sheldon and Diane Avery, and his faithful dog; Rudy.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother; Mark Duncan.

As per Mike’s wishes, no services are planned at this time.  Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Stronghurst.  A memorial fund has been established for the Knox County Humane Society.  Memorials may be sent in care of: Banks & Beals Funeral Home, PO Box 299, Stronghurst, IL 61480.  Please visit Mike’ obituary at banksandbeals.com to sign the guest book and leave a condolence.
