Ronald C. “Sully” Sullivan, 80, of Galesburg, IL, peacefully went to be with the Lord at 10:37 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing & Rehab in Galesburg, IL, surrounded by his family. 

He was born on August 11, 1942 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Cecil and Myrtle (Scalf) Sullivan.  He was raised and educated in the Kirkwood area and graduated from Yorkwood High School in 1960.  

Sully proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1962-1966 and later serving in the United States Army from 1972-1976.  He had the privilege of being on the Honor Flight to Washington DC on October 25, 2018.   

He married the love of his life and soulmate, Judy (Johnson) Snyder on July 2, 1994 in Galesburg, IL; she survives. 

Most recently, Sully was a driver for Hallcon.  Sully never knew a stranger.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, gun & knife collecting, and especially riding motorcycles.  Sully took several trips to the Sturgis & Conesville Bike Rally’s.  Most of all, Sully enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving Sully is his wife, Judy Sullivan of Galesburg, IL; his children by choice, Gary Snyder of Monmouth, IL, Jennifer Armstrong of Monmouth, IL, Laurie Peterson of Wataga, IL; his grandchildren, Preston Nelson of Washington, IL, Heather (Jeff) Damewood of Knoxville, IL, Derrick (Nicole) Snyder of Mendota, IL, Brandon Snyder of Papillion, NE, Madison Snyder of Bloomington, IL; his great grandchildren, Blake, Bo, Liam, Bailey, Preston II, Triston, Nikoya, Nikolai, Andraya, Derrick Jr., Arieah, Kamara, Deitryck, Andralyn, Shayela ; and one great great granddaughter, Lilah.  Also surviving is one brother, Tony (Barbara) Sullivan of Oval, PA; his nieces and nephews, Michelle Guiswite, Kelly Scofield, Dustin Sullivan, Heather Young; and six great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and great nephew, Paul Tawney.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  Graveside services with Military Honors will be in Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth, IL at a later date.  Memorials can be made to the Ronald Sullivan Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
