The Monmouth College men’s track and field teams picked up another honor on Tuesday when junior thrower Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) was named Midwest Conference Field Performer of the Week.
Toberman set a new personal best while winning the weight throw at Illinois Wesleyan’s Keck Select on Saturday with a throw of 18.40m. In winning at the Keck Select, Toberman defeated Division I and Division III competitors while establishing a new MWC high for 2023 by a half meter over teammate Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois). Toberman’s throw ranks 6th in Monmouth history and 9th in D3 so far this season. He also finished second among D3 athletes (T3 overall) in the shot put at 14.05m on Saturday.
Toberman is the third Scots track and field athlete to earn a Performer of the Week nod this season, and all three have been throwers. Addi Cox (Monmouth, Illinois) won the award on Jan. 17 and Anderson took the honor a week later.
The Scots will be at home this weekend with the Roger Haynes Invitational on Saturday. The field events start at 10:45 a.m. as the Scots host Beloit College, Illinois College, Mount Mercy and William Woods.
