Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 12, 2023:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is sophomore wrestler, Alejandro Morales. Alejandro went (2-2) in the 126 pound weight class at the Class 1A Clinton Sectional Tournament. His two wins came by pinfall. His two losses were to the wrestlers that placed 2nd and 3rd. Alejandro ended the season with a record of (15-19).

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior boys basketball player, Aiden Jenks. Aiden’s steady play on both ends of the floor helped the Red Storm to a pair of wins last week. He scored 11 points in a win over South Fulton and then handed out five assists in a victory over Wethersfield. Aiden also contributed 13 points in a loss to a solid Annawan ballclub earlier in the week.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls basketball player, Harlee Hainds. Harlee’s offensive output has really blossomed in the second half of the season. She averaged 13 points a game last week, with 14 in a regional quarterfinal win over Payson-Seymour. Harlee is a double-double machine, as she leads the team with over 8 rebounds a game.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls wrestler, Annalisa Gibbons. With her performance at the Class 2A Geneseo sectional tournament, Annalisa became the first Silver Streaks girl wrestler to qualify for the IHSA state finals. She went (3-1) in the 140 pound weight class for a 3rd place finish. Annalisa will carry a (14-14) record into this weekend’s finals at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior girls bowler Ella Tucker. Ella qualified for her first state finals by having a great day at the Decatur Eisenhower Sectional Tournament. She rolled a 6-game score of 1148 for an average of 191 pins a game. That score placed Ella 11th overall on the day out of 103 bowlers.
