Carl Sandburg, ROE #33, and U of I Extension to Introduce More than 600 8th Graders to “Real World” Careers

Along with the Regional Office of Education #33 and the University of Illinois Extension, Carl Sandburg College is partnering to host “Welcome to the Real World” for area 8th Grade students, explains Coordinator of Career Development Tracy Engstrom:

“The morning piece, they will have a “Welcome to the Real World” finance literacy and basically how to survive in the real world. Then Sandburg’s piece, we will jump in and we will offer the Career Exploration where we are hoping to have at least eleven separate career clusters, healthcare, manufacturing, and things like that. Introducing the kids to what is available in the trades and the salaries that can be made.”

The “Welcome to the Real World Event” for more than 600 8th Graders is scheduled for Friday, April 28th at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg.
