Rebecca (Becky) Sue (Owrey) Johns, 78, of Alpha, died Monday, March 13, 2023, 10:26 PM at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

Becky was born on December 18, 1944 to Merle and Dolores (Fuller) Owrey at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. She graduated from ROVA High School in Oneida in 1963 and Illlinois Central College in East Peoria in 1978. Becky married David H. Johns at Arcadia Presbyterian Church in Peoria on June 17, 1966. To this union were born two sons, Timothy D. Johns and Thomas R. Johns. They later divorced in 1981 in Tazwell County in Pekin.

She was employed at Proctor Hospital in Peoria in 1966 as a Nurse’s Aide and Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. in Morton and Woodhull from 1978 to 2008 as an Administrative Assistant and Express Lane in Woodhull 1994 to 2012. She loved playing cards, making scrapbooks for friends and family, going to all of the school events for her nephew and niece and spending time with family members.

She is survived by her sons, Timothy D. Johns and Thomas (Jaimie) Johns, both of Alpha; grandchildren, Tommy L. (Jayme)Johns of Danville, IA, Dakota Michael Johns, Sienna Rose Marie Johns and Bailey Anne Marie Johns of Alpha; sister, Karin (Terry) Cook of Kewanee; nephew Michael A. Cook of Dallas, TX; niece, Rachel M. Cook of Kewanee; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 4-6 PM, Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Oneida. Funeral services will be 10 AM, Monday, March 20, 2023 at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory, Oneida. Rev. Bruce Rushing will officiate. Burial will follow funeral services at the Oneida Cemetery. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory have been entrusted with assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Knox County 4-H or a charity of the donor’s choosing. Expressions of sympathy may be left to the family at www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com
