The United Board of Education approved the purchase of a new English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum for the elementary classrooms, says High School Principal Chris Schwarz:

“This was such a collaborative process. I think that was probable the coolest thing about this. We got a little taste of how that process works, Vanessa Witherell, who is our instructional coach at North Elementary was on hand, as well as Mr. Coate and Mrs. Wallace to inform the board or review with the board some of the ins and outs of the new curriculum. I have to give a lot of credit to our School Board and their involvement and just their help with the process. Our teachers and staff at North Elementary and West Elementary have been so organized in just showing and being able to create an online platform that gives parents access and give students access to what they would be covering and what the curriculum entails.”

Schwarz says 2012 was the last time the United School District had purchased an ELA curriculum. Furthermore, bids will be opening up for paving parking lots at all buildings within the United district, while HVAC upgrades at the High School is nearing completion.
