A 35-megawatt solar farm covering 230 acres is to be constructed in Warren County. Buildings and Grounds Committee Chairman Sean Cavanaugh explains the County Board passed a resolution to increase the decommissioning bond for the project:
“It is located on the Illinois County Road 100N, along Highway 67, east of 60th Street, and south of 180th Avenue. There were discussions because obviously to get a project like that going you need just scores and scores of documentation and plans for decommissioning. The County requested that the decommissioning bond be increased to $3.6 million from the $2.5 million that was initially recommended by the firm. This insures that everyone involved is protected when it comes time for the decommissioning of that.”
Furthermore, $650,000 of COVID relief funds has been designated to complete masonry work and steps repair at the Courthouse. Warren County will also be receiving a 14 passenger smart van from the state of Illinois to add to their public transportation fleet.
