IL House To Pass Transgender Sports Ban For Schools

Share

The House is expected to pass a bill to ban transgender athletes from women’s and girls’ sports.  The bill would prohibit schools receiving federal funding from allowing biological males to compete in female athletics.  House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik said the measure is about fairness in women’s sports.  While the bill is expected to pass the Republican-led House, it will go nowhere in the Democratic-controlled Senate, and the White House has said President Biden would veto the measure.  Democrats argue the ban is discriminatory.
