The Monmouth Fire Department’s new hire Devin Bemowski recently graduated from the Illinois Fire Service Institute Fire Fighter One Academy, reports Chief Casey Rexroat:

“This is something that all of our firefighters do and it is quite an accomplishment because it is a very rigorous academy to go through. It is seven weeks long; you work in fire conditions almost every single day that they are there. They usually start around six in the morning and go until four or five at least at every night. This is something that we put all our firefighters through. It is a great academy and is quite an accomplishment for our firefighters to get through that.”

65 additional firefighters from across the state of Illinois also completed the 2023 Spring Basic Firefighter/NFPA Firefighter One Academy.
