Raymond Richard “Dick” Boos, 89, of Galesburg, Illinois, died peacefully at home 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023.

Dick was born September 27, 1933 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Raymond Wesley and Sylvia (See) Boos. Dick enlisted in the United States Marine Corp on October 3, 1950 and was honorably discharge on October 2, 1954 after serving nineteen months overseas during the Korean Conflict. He then married Anastasia Glasnovich on May 14, 1957 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on October 4, 2018.

Dick is survived by two sons, Stephen (Michelle) Boos of Galesburg and Paul Boos of Arkansas; one daughter, Anne (Tim) Dixon of Galesburg; three grandchildren, Josh Dixon, Nicholas Boos, and Ryan Boos; and two great grandchildren, Sofia and Max.

Dick worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Galesburg and Monmouth for 26 years, retiring in 1991. Dick was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church in Galesburg. He loved to help people and will be long remembered for his happy, easy going, and sweet personality. Dick also loved to joke around and laugh. In his younger years he thoroughly enjoyed fishing and had numerous pets he loved dearly.

Cremation has been accorded. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, with funeral services following at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Greg Bartlett will officiate. Luncheon will follow at the Watson-Thomas Legacy Center. Burial with military rites will be at a later date at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Knox County Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
