Madalyn K. Yeast, age 83, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 7:09  pm on May 24, 2023 at Monmouth Nursing Home. Madalyn was born on December 25, 1939 in Toulon, Illinois and is the daughter of Dale Thomas and Mary Pauline Spencer Hendrickson. She was raised in Toulon and Galesburg, Illinois where she attended local schools and graduated from Galesburg High School. Madalyn married Marshal Yeast on October 19, 1958 at the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg, Illinois. He is surviving her. Madalyn first was employed as school secretary at rural Warren School near Monmouth. She later was a secretary at Monmouth College for a time, and when she and Marshal moved to Bloomington, Illinois she was secretary for State Farm Insurance. Madalyn was for years a member of the Order of the Eastern Star locally. She also was a member of the Warren County Home Extension of the University of Illinois. She loved to do handwork, crocheting, and sewing and made many afghans for her family and others. She and Marshal loved to go camping in many states over the years. Madalyn most of all loved caring for her family. She is survived by her husband, Marshal Yeast of Monmouth, Illinois and two daughters, Alisa Ramer and Leo of Monmouth, Illinois and Jeannie Bramel and Bryan of Liberty, South Carolina. There are two granddaughters, Jennifer Schaaf and Joshua of Pickens, South Carolina and Elizabeth Bramel of Central, South Carolina. Madalyn’s great grandson, Oliver Schaaf, also is surviving in Pickens, South Carolina. Madalyn was expecting the arrival of her first great granddaughter. She is preceded in her death by her parents, her brother Lyle, and an infant daughter.

Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service is planned at First United Methodist Church of Galesburg, Illinois on Tuesday June 6, 2023 at 11:00 am. Her family plans visitation and will receive friends for an hour prior to the funeral service, from 10:00 am to 11:00am. Interment will be in the Oneida Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for First United Methodist Church in Galesburg, Illinois.
