The Monmouth College track and field teams grabbed a handful of individual wins as they finished the regular season with Saturday’s Fighting Scot Invitational at April Zorn Stadium
Women
Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) won the discus with a throw of 44.06m. Amanda Dybal (Apex, North Carolina) finished second with a career-best throw of 42.00m. Addi Cox (Morton, Illinois) also threw a career high at 39.44m to finish fourth.
Cox won the hammer throw at 47.81m with Dybal in second at 46.92m. Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) was third at 42.62m and Boley was fourth at 42.54m.
Boley won the shot put at 12.77m with Cox in seconds at 12.37m. Gracie Gibbons (Altona, Illinois) took fourth at 11.75m. Dybal was third in the javelin at 31.80m.
Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) won the pole vault at 3.14m with Delaney Rexroat (Monmouth, Illinois) in fourth at 2.84m. Hursey’s performance is the ninth-best pole vault in school history.
Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) took second in the long jump at 5.03m, just ahead of Alyssa Villarreal (Galesburg, Illinois) at 5.02m. Rusk also took second in the 200m race at 26.36. Carina Engst (Bloomington, Illinois) took third in the triple jump at 10.17m. Bethany Allen (Monmouth, Illinois) was fourth in the high jump at 1.38m.
The women’s 4x100m relay team of Hursey, Villarreal, Turner and Rusk finished second in 50.25 seconds. The 4x400m relay team of Engst, Rusk, Nicole Hoyer (Montgomery, Illinois) and Ally Celus (Annawan, Illinois) took second in 4:32.63.
Men
Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) won the hammer throw at 49.55m with teammate Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) in third at 46.91m. Toberman also took third in the discus at 40.86m. In the shot put, Toberman was second at 13.24m with Blake Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) in third at 13.16m. Sam Phillips (Cape Coral, Florida) took fourth in the javelin at 43.24m.
Senior Reed Wilson won the pole vault, which was moved indoors, as he cleared 4.56m. Peter Soutsos (Highland Park, Illinois) won the 110m hurdles in 16.52. Senior Maurice Greene (Galesburg, Illinois) won the long jump at 12.38m.
Reed Bona (Dyersburg, Tennessee) was second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.92. Luke Ditsworth (Oquawka, Illinois) was second in the 200m race at 22.46, just ahead of Adrian Outlaw (Galesburg, Illinois) in 22.50. Patrick Curry Jr. (Chicago, Illinois) took fourth in the high jump at 1.75m, Curry also took third in the 400m race at 51.51 seconds.
The 4x100m relay men’s team got second with Bona, Ditsworth, Luke Jachimiec (Aurora, Illinois) and Outlaw finishing in 43.26 seconds.The 4x400m relay team of Bona, Outlaw, Eli Perry (Mt. Prospect, Illinois) and Curry won the final race of the day in a time of 3:26.46.
NEXT UP:
The Scots head to Grinnell College next weekend for the Midwest Conference Outdoor Championships. The events start at 9 a.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday. The Fighting Scots are the defending champions in the women’s event and finished runner-up in the men’s competition in 2022.
