Macomb Police Identify Pedestrian Struck by Amtrak Passenger Train

Macomb Police Investigation incident involving Amtrak Passenger train and pedestrian.
Update on pedestrian: Deja A. McCray, female, DOB 05/25/2003 was pronounced deceased
at the scene from an apparent suicide.

On 6-22-23 at 9:29pm the Macomb Police Department was notified by Amtrak personnel of an
incident involving the Westbound Amtrak “Illinois Zephyr” passenger train and a pedestrian.

The Macomb Police Department, Macomb Fire Department and McDonough County Sheriff’s
Office responded to the scene near the intersection of West Jackson Street and Clay Street.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by the McDonough County Coroner.

No foul play is suspected. This incident remains under investigation.
