The Monmouth City Council has received two bids for improvements at the municipal airport, explains City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher:

“The first one was actually being administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and that is for the construction of a new entrance road and a parking lot out at the airport. The low bid was Gunther and they will be looking at a total price of around $228,000 to put in asphalt the entranceway and parking lot. It will also include the extension of the water main and the installation of a hydrant near the new hangar as well. Then the other one was the asphalt area around the hangar so that we can have easy access to the units on the backside. The low bidder on that one was Brandt Construction. Both of these projects are 90 percent funded with the State of Illinois Department of Transportation funds.”

Council also approved an Engineering Services Agreement with Hanson, their airport engineer, to do the construction inspection and contract administration portion of the project.
