Showing of Generation Found to Address Addiction Recovery

Share

The topic of youth struggling with substance use disorder and what resources are available for them kept reoccurring. West Central IL ROSC has decided to host a movie showing at the Orpheum Theatre. They will be showing Generation Found. The movie will be followed by a panel of people that experienced substance use disorder in adolescence. They will be speaking on their experience and they will answer any questions the community may have. It is time to come together as a community and start having these difficult conversations.

A little bit about the movie- Generation Found is a powerful story about one community coming together to ignite a youth addiction recovery revolution in their hometown. Devastated by an epidemic of addiction, Houston faced the reality of burying and locking up its young people at an alarming rate. And so in one of the largest cities in America, visionary counselors, law school dropouts, aspiring rock musicians, retired football players, oil industry executives, and church leaders came together to build the world’s largest peer-driven youth and family recovery community. Independently filmed over the course of two years, Generation Found takes an unprecedented and intimate look at how a system of treatment centers, sober high schools, alternative peer groups, and collegiate recovery programs can exist in concert to intervene early and provide a real and tested long-term alternative to the “War on Drugs.”

There will also be a few tables for agencies to share their resources. If you serve youth at any capacity please reach out, they would love to have your resources available at this event. They are looking for resources that enhance the daily living of teens (clubs, gyms, counseling, support groups, therapy, volunteer opportunities, treatment, life skills, etc.).
