United Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt reports the Board of Education has passed a policy change for those students attending courses through the Vocational Center in Galesburg while in high school, where once completing their certificate, families would then be reimbursed:

“Historically our kids have always paid ten percent of the tuition cost to attend those programs. Our Board over the last tow months has talked about it and decided that as much as they would love to pay for the whole thing, we passed the policy change that says we will still charge the ten percent, but upon successful completion of the course, the kids will get their ten percent back. So, if they don’t take the course seriously, they have donated to the program, but if they do take it seriously and get what they are suppose to out of it, they will get their money back and it will be a free certificate or free program.”

The Galesburg Area Vocational Center offers career and technical education courses for students enrolled at Abingdon-Avon, Knoxville, Monmouth-Roseville, ROWVA, Williamsfield, Galesburg, West Central, and United.
