Lázaro F. Segura, 70, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at his home.

Lázaro was born December 17, 1952 in Chilpancingo Guerrero, Mexico, the son of Efrén and Joaquina (Carréon) Segura.  He was raised and educated in Mexico.

Lázaro married Karen J. Unzicker in Peoria, IL in 1977 and she survives.

Lázaro was self-employed.

Lázaro was a different man to different people.  A husband, a father, a friend.  He always believed in hard work. He put so much passion into caring for his chickens and had a soft spot for his little “guardian angel” chihuahuas, Kari and Artie.  He lived a life like many others. It was full of happiness and joy, mistakes and regrets, ups and downs.  Times of winning and times of failing.  In the end, he accomplished what most hope for by making sure that the family he left behind, his wife and three boys, knew that they were loved unconditionally by him.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Segura of Monmouth; his sons, Lázaro Brad Segura of Monmouth, Joshua Segura of Taiwan, and Justin Segura of Arizona; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; his sister, Joaquina Morales and his brothers, Efraín Segura, Efrén Segura and Fernando Segura all of Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Gloria Gutierrez.

Cremation has been accorded.  No services are planned at this time. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence, please visit www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com
