During the month of June, the Monmouth Fire Department logged over 502 hours of various training exercises, including a simulated ropes rescue at Monmouth College, explains Communications Director Ken Helms:

“Monmouth College has a pretty advanced and neat elevator in the science building. The department has all went through different rope rescue classes and wanted to get some practice and training opportunity there. The College let them practice a simulated training event where somebody was stuck in the elevator at a lower floor and they had to raise them up. That was all spearheaded by Firefighter Osborne.”

In another training event, which was also attending by surrounding agencies, Assistant Chief Pat Spears set up the opportunity to safely train and operate around a helicopter when landing in rural areas.
