Steven A. Purchase, 69, of Alexis, IL passed away at 4:39 pm, Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL.

Steve was born August 18, 1953 in Galesburg, IL the son of Raymond W. and Ruth (Allen) Purchase.  He was raised and educated in Cameron and near Abingdon, graduating from Abingdon High School in 1971.

Steve married Rhenae Ebany on February 12, 1972 in Abingdon.  He later married Lyndi Allgeyer on January 1, 2015 at Jigg’s Cardinal Inn in Alexis.

Steve worked at OMC Gale Products in Galesburg for 10 years.  He later owned and operated Purchase Transportation.  He was currently working for the State of Illinois, CMS Division for almost 20 years. 

He was a member of the Galesburg Elks Club, Prairie Drifter Snowmobile Club and ABATE.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, hanging with friends and riding his Harley.  Steve could and would fix anything.  He never met a stranger. Steve also served as a Trustee for the Village of Alexis for several years.

Survivors include his wife, Lyndi Allgeyer of Alexis; his daughter, Stephanie Arnold of Oquawka, IL; 2 grandchildren, Mari (Brandon Gotaas) Hunter and Madison Hunter both of Oquawka; 2 great grandchildren, Pyper Gotaas and Koltyn Gotaas, his mother-in-law, Betty Allgeyer of Galesburg; sister-in-law, Stephanie (Rob) Elliott of Cameron, IL; 2 nephews, Jason (Melissa) Purchase and Jeremy (Amy) Purchase; along with great nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Raymond “Gene” Purchase; father-in-law, Clarence E. “Jiggs” Allgeyer and brother-in-law, Brian Allgeyer

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Monday, July 10, 2023 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 pm, Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the funeral home. Cremation will take place following the services with a private family interment to take place at a later date.  Memorials may be given to the Steven Purchase Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home.
