Arlan R. Fox, age 76, of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 9:19 AM on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at his residence. He was born June 30, 1947 in Wheatland, Iowa, the son of Lester R. and Ella L. (Schnack) Fox. Arlan attended schools in Wheatland, and was a graduate of Wheatland High School with the Class of 1965. On May 6, 1977, he married the love of his life, Bobbie (Roberta) Snyder in Rock Island, Illinois and she is surviving. They were often teased about never being apart, always together, and that is what they both wanted and enjoyed. Arlan proudly served his Country in the United State Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was with the 1st Air Calvary/2/8 Recon Division, from which he received various medals including the Bronze Star with the V device. Arlan also spent time during his deployment in Cambodia. That part of his life was a “game changer” in his own words. Arlan always said “God, Family, and Friends is what matters, because there is no tomorrow.”
Arlan worked for J.I. Case Company for thirty-six years, retiring from there in 2001. He liked antiques, collectables, and anything that brought back memories of his childhood. This history behind these items is what inspired his crazy habit. He and Bobbie collected, bought, sold, and set-up at shows and traveled the Country looking for more items. The friends made in this hobby was one of the driving forces to keep traveling.
Arlan is survived by his wife Bobbie of Oquawka, Illinois, three daughters; Dawn Fox of Quincy, ILMelissa (Tony) Fox of Gladstone, IL, and Sonya (Norm) Fox of Des Moines, IA, two sons; Todd (Val) Fox of Davenport, IA and David (Nancy) Fox of Hagerstown, MD. He is also survived by six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Arlan is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carolyn.
