Monmouth’s Addie Smith Running in Sprint Triathlon Nationals

Share

2023 Monmouth-Roseville High School graduate Addie Smith was very active during her time as a Titan. Along with being a great student, she had much success on the Titan girls swim team and was a starter on the Titan girls soccer team that qualified for their first regional championship match in just their 3rd year of the program’s existence. She was a member of the Monmouth-Roseville pep band and participated in many band events at the IHSA Solo and Ensemble competitions. More importantly, Addie was a top scholar, an academic Hall of Fame member with a 3.9 GPA and was inducted into the National Honor Society.

One would think that being busy during the school year, you would take a break during the summer months? Not Addie, she trains for sprint triathlons. She will be making her second appearance at the National Sprint Triathlon Race in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Sunday, August 6th. Addie visited the AM 1330 WRAM Morning Show on Tuesday morning and she explains what a sprint triathlon entails.

With one national appearance already under her belt, Smith will be much more prepared this time around. She describes her first time at the big race last summer.

Addie will continue to do spring triathlons at the collegiate level as she will attend Division III Central College in Pella, Iowa this upcoming school year. She will be a part of the women’s triathlon team and will hope to make the collegiate national meet, as well.

A full weekend of running races are on the schedule for the city of Milwaukee starting on Friday. Addie’s race will be on Sunday.
