Progress Continues on Water Main and Road Reconstruction in Monmouth

Share

Water Main replacements and road reconstruction projects continue throughout the City of Monmouth. Next on tap will be the road resurfacing on Euclid, followed by a complete overhaul of 6th Street between Broadway and Euclid, says Mayor Rod Davies:

“They completed putting in at one block of new water main on 6th Street between Detroit and Euclid and they have now completed hooking up all the houses that were on the west side of the street to the new water main that runs along the east side. They will begin some road repair work and are in the process of designing a complete overhaul of 6th Street between Broadway and Euclid. Those will be funded with some Rebuild Illinois funds and that is in review in Springfield by the Illinois Department of Transportation. We hope they get that through that review soon so it can go to bid and we can get that done yet this fall. Otherwise we will have some patching on 6th Street and it may be next spring before we get to tackle that one.”

Additionally, Monmouth City Council has approved two phases of engineering agreements with Woodard and Curran for the construction of water mains on Harlem Avenue from Main Street to G Street and G to Sunny Lane, which is anticipated to begin this fall.
