Jamieson Community Center Continues to See Record Numbers at Food Pantry and Senior Nutrition

Share

The food pantry at the Jamieson Community Center Marketplace continues to see increased visits. In one month, Executive Director Nancy Mowen reports there were 497 visits, which she shares is attributed to a change in SNAP benefits:

“The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, people that get SNAP have seen decreases in the amount of money they are getting. We have a number of people who have reported that they are getting like $50 a month. $50 a month does not go very far at the grocery store.”

As for the Senior Nutrition program, 235 individuals are being served throughout Warren, Henderson, and Mercer Counties.
