Kimberly Jean Cooper, 58, of Galesburg, Illinois, died unexpectedly in the emergency room at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 8:43 p.m.

Kim was born April 14, 1965 in Mankato, Minnesota, the daughter of George Frank and Beverly Jean (Fritz) Sullivan. Kim married Kevan J. Cooper on August 1, 2009 in Galesburg, Illinois.

Kim is survived by her devoted husband, Kevan of Galesburg; son, Marcus (Wes Burke) Schmitz of Tampa, Florida; a daughter, Cassandra Schmitz of Galesburg; an additional son, Evan (Tabitha) Cooper of Davenport, Iowa; and three grandchildren, Chloe, Blair, and Josie, with another grandchild on the way. Kim is also survived by two brothers, Ken (Kirsten Skjervold) Sullivan of Lake Crystal, Minnesota and Keith (Heidi) Sullivan of Orlando, Florida; and one sister, Kathy (David Carlson) Johnson of Galesburg. Kim was preceded in death by her parents and one niece, Ashley Sullivan.

Kim worked for several years in the real estate title business at Western Illinois Title Company. When in high school Kim excelled as an athlete in volleyball and basketball. She was very giving of herself to others. She loved baking for her family, especially cookies. Kim enjoyed being outdoors, earning the title of “professional” pool partyer and had an amazing green thumb in caring for both her vegetable and flower gardens.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Visitation will follow from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A celebration of life will continue at the Thomas Legacy Center from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Safe Harbor.
