Knox Prairie Fire 2023 Cross Country Preview

Share

Ryan Monson enters his first season as the Head Cross Country Coach at Knox College. Monson inherits a team that made strides last season and now has the largest roster in several years.

“I am very excited about this team,” said Monson. “We have been working hard in preseason and we are itching to get going at Central this weekend. I think we can continue getting better as the year goes on and I am looking forward to seeing how much we can improve by the time the conference championships begin.”

The Prairie Fire cross country team brings back nine returners from last year and welcomes seven newcomers. Lance Miller Yates finished in the top-20 at last year’s Midwest Conference Men’s Cross Country Championships as a first-year, so he will look to move farther up the leaderboard this year. Kyle Horn and Elliot Varnum also return for the men’s team after finishing in Knox’s top-5. The women return Megan Shafar, Serena Delgadillo, and Eileen Sheetz as part of their top-5.

The cross country team opens the season at the Dutch Invite at Central College on September 1.
